According to a survey conducted in the United States, 20% of women under 44 do not want to have children.
A recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center in the USA showed that many women of childbearing age are abandoning the joys of motherhood, and the number of "free-chayld" is steadily growing. So, in 1970 there were only 10% of such women, and now this figure has increased to 20%. This pattern is typical for all ethnic groups, and only for women with a degree, this indicator has changed: 24% (2008) compared to 31% (1994). The study showed that social and cultural changes occurred in society, and this in turn led to the reasons why women refuse to have children. One of them is a change in the social role of women. Today, the female sex has gained the opportunity of self-realization and achievement of career goals. That is why many women refuse to have a baby, realizing that they will not be able to devote much time to a baby. Modern contraception also allows a woman to have a full sex life, without burdening herself with a child.
Another reason is the fear of losing shape and gaining extra weight after pregnancy. For example, scientists from the University of Queensland (Australia) in the February issue of the Journal of Preventive Medicine found that women who have a regular partner and infants tend to gain weight for ten years. Specialists have studied more than 6 thousand women who have at least one child. Studies have shown that over the next ten years they added an average of 4 kg. Significantly lower in women who do not have children. They collected about 1.8 kg.
Statistics also showed that today women prefer to give birth to children at a later age in comparison with previous years. Meanwhile, doctors are convinced that with this decision one should be very cautious. Scientists from the center of the cancer research in the United States (Seattle) confirmed the assumption that the birth of the first child at a later age increases the risk of developing breast cancer.
