Olga Goncharova Candidate of Medical Sciences
Olga Viktorovna, certainly one of the most topical issues for today - the problem of feeding babies - was discussed at the Congress. Could you briefly talk about this?
In 1989, the World Health Organization adopted the Declaration "Protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding practices". In our country, the implementation of the 10 principles of successful breastfeeding, proclaimed by her, began in 1995. Modern methods of encouraging and supporting breastfeeding began to be introduced into the practice of medical and preventive institutions of obstetrics and childhood, the main ones of which are the early application of the newborn to the breast, the joint stay in the "mother-child" ward; free mode of feeding; exclusive breastfeeding up to 4-6 months; the introduction in earlier periods of juices, cereals and other kinds of complementary foods - only if there are serious indications.
On the positive results of the work done, the head of the Directorate for the Protection of Mother and Child Health prof. A. A. Korsunsky. The conducted scientific researches showed that among the children who are on breastfeeding, the number of people who are often and long-term sick is 1.2 times less than among those who are on artificial and mixed feeding, and the diseases of the digestive organs are 1.8 times less common in them from the "artificers".
What new products for kids are developed by Russian scientists?
Recently, a new term was used in pediatrics: "functional nutrition". It involves the inclusion in the diet of products of natural origin. At the Congress, data were presented on the effectiveness of sour-milk products and new therapeutic mixtures that stimulate the development of endogenous beneficial intestinal microflora, metabolic processes, the immune system, growth, physical and neuropsychological development in infants. Useful properties of these fermented milk products are due to the action of microorganisms-probiotics, which are part of starter cultures.
At present, many strains for fermenting milk have been created: acidophilus bacillus with bifidobacteria, bifidobacteria with kefir fungi, thermophilic streptococcus with bifidobacteria, etc. Professor KS Ladodo and Yu. G. Mukhina (Scientific Center of Children's Health, Russian State Medical University, Moscow) Presented at the Congress an overview of food products for young children. So, for infants of the first year of life, adapted acid-milk mixtures are recommended (i.e., approximate in composition to breast milk): "Bifilin" (based on starter cultures with bifidobacteria); acidophilic mixture "Malyutka" (starter with acidophilus rod); "Agu1" for children from birth to 6 months. and "Agu2" for children older than 6 months. (starter with bifidobacteria and acidophilus rod) - these mixtures can be sour-milk and fresh; dairy product "Adalact" (leaven of acidophilus rod and thermophilic streptococcus).
These products are intended for feeding healthy and sick toddlers of the first year of life: premature babies; small; Newborns suffering from intestinal disorders, intestinal dysbiosis, purulent-inflammatory and allergic diseases. They are also recommended for long-term antibiotic therapy, with an early transfer to artificial feeding.
For older children, unadapted dairy products are recommended: from 7-8 months. - fermented milk product "Kefir children" (based on kefir fungi), "Biokefir", "Bifidokefir", "Bifidok" (the last three products are kefir, which includes bifidobacteria); for children older than a year - acid-milk products "Acidolact", "Biolact", "Narine" (starter cultures with acidophilus bacillus), "Lactobacterin" (leaven with lactobacterin), yoghurts (on leaven with Bulgarian stick and thermophilic streptococcus), Bifilin M "(With bifidobacteria)," Tonus "(with propionic, acetic acid bacteria and lactic streptococcus). These products can enter the daily diet of healthy babies and can be used as a prophylactic in children with such disorders as physical retardation, dysbacteriosis, gastrointestinal diseases, chronic liver disease, partial lactase deficiency, and long-term antibiotic treatment.
What other topics were discussed at the Congress?
There are many such topics. This is the problem of early diagnosis of gastrointestinal diseases in infants from infancy, and drug treatment, which reduces the incidence of gastroenterological pathology in children, and much more ...
