The word "canned" (English conserve - save, save) almost always causes a negative reaction in adult inhabitants of our planet. Indeed, canned food for adults contains a large number of components that are unsuitable for our health - preservatives, spices, flavor enhancers, dyes and other "delights". At the same time, it turns out that the production of canned products is not necessarily associated with the addition of harmful substances to the products. It is the dishes for baby food that fully correspond to its name, preserving the useful qualities of the products. Let's see why.

Canned food without "chemistry"

First, the products intended for the manufacture of children's canned food are thoroughly monitored for the presence of harmful substances; moreover, plants and animals are grown without the use of chemicals, growth stimulants, hormones, etc., on environmentally friendly land. During processing, artificial flavorings and colorants are not added to the products.

Secondly, dishes for baby food are produced using a special technology that allows you to save most of the vitamins and trace elements in all products, which is almost unattainable in a home cooking environment.

Thirdly, most of the dishes, especially for the youngest ones, are homogenized under factory conditions - high-pressure grinding. This process leads to the destruction of cell walls. Such products are easier to digest, less likely to cause allergic reactions; In addition, the homogenized dish has the most delicate consistency. In this regard, the timing of the introduction of certain products in the baby's diet vary depending on whether they are cooked in a factory or "home" way: "home" meals are introduced later for about a month. In addition to homogenized, also pureed canned foods are produced in industry (the degree of grinding is great in this case, but the cell membranes remain intact) - finely ground and coarse-grained, which contain small pieces of the product. These canned foods are designed for older children and are taught to chew food.

A big plus of children's canned food is that they allow to significantly diversify the baby's diet regardless of the season. Tell me, where will you take zucchini in March? And how many vitamins will remain in cabbage by April? And how much will they survive after cooking?

Finally, canned food allows you to save not only the useful properties of products, but also the precious mothers of strength and time, which is necessary not only for feeding the baby, but also for playing and playing with it.

How do they eat?

Here are a few basic rules that will help you navigate the variety of bright jars and hopefully avoid trouble [1]:

  1. The new dish starts to enter from small portions - with ½-1 tsp. Carefully observe the baby: if there is anxiety, diluted stool with herbs, changes on the skin - this product should be refrained.
  2. Never introduce several new dishes at the same time. In order to child could get used to a new product, it takes about two weeks, after which the baby's diet can be replenished with the following dish.
  3. Any new "series" should begin with mono-products and very carefully proceed to multicomponent compositions. Such mixtures of several products can significantly enrich the taste of dishes and increase their nutritional value. Many manufacturers use the brands "first", "second" and "third stage". "The first step" is usually a dish that will facilitate the addiction of the baby to new food.
  4. It should be remembered that the age at which manufacturers recommend using this product (it is indicated on jars) should be taken as "not earlier ...". For children who are on artificial feeding, complementary foods can be prescribed earlier, 3-4 weeks earlier than infants. This is due to the fact that breast milk substitutes, being a foreign food, stimulate the baby's gastrointestinal tract to a more rapid maturation ("growing up"), so he is earlier able to cope with the lure.
  5. Note: some manufacturers point to their products, how a particular product affects a child's chair.
  6. If a dish is too thick for a baby, you can dilute it with breast milk, a mixture, water [2] or vegetable broth.
  7. Before use, be sure to check the tightness of the jar: the jar with the lid should open with cotton, and the tin cans should be drawn flat surfaces.
  8. Warm up the children's canned food in a water bath or, putting it in a suitable bowl, in a microwave oven. (However, remember that in the microwave oven, the products heat up unevenly). Avoid re-heating, so prepare a portion that the baby can "overpower". Products should not be overheated, because this leads to the destruction of nutrients.
  9. After opening, children's canned food should be stored in the refrigerator - the period of possible storage is always indicated by the producers. It is not more than 24-48 hours. If you opened a tin can, then the unused portion for storage should be shifted to glassware: the tin is strongly oxidized under the influence of oxygen in the air, and oxidation products can get into baby food. There are no other differences between tin cans and glass jars.

Getting acquainted with the assortment

So, what do the producers offer the youngest gourmets?

Fruit juice. From juices, your baby will get some vitamins and trace elements. Most researchers believe that the role of "pioneer" should be given to apple juice. The industry produces monocomponent juices (from one kind of fruit) and nectars, as well as multicomponent compounds, including fruit and vegetable (for example, apple-carrot, apple-pumpkin). Clarified are juices without pulp - it is preferable to begin with them. Juices can contain sugar, which is undesirable and because of the risk of allergies, and because of the risk of developing caries. Some manufacturers use fructose as a sweetener, which some nutritional experts consider preferable to sugar. In addition, some juices are specially enriched with iron compounds (for example, iron citrate) to prevent anemia in children.

The closest relatives of juices - fruit puree, которые содержат необходимые витамины, микроэлементы и пищевые волокна. Они также могут состоять из одного или из нескольких фруктов. В основном все они являются гомогенизированными. В качестве консерванта чаще всего используется аскорбиновая кислота. Нередко во fruit puree добавляется сахар или фруктоза. На сливки и творог в составе фруктового пюре необходимо обращать внимание, если кроха страдает аллергией к белкам коровьего молока. К особой группе фруктовых изысков следует отнести джемы и конфитюры, которые, как и обычные “взрослые”, изготавливаются с большим количеством сахара. Такая вкуснятина рассчитана на детей старше полутора лет.

Vegetable puree. Овощи помогут обеспечить крохе необходимое количество ряда витаминов и микроэлементов, они богаты пищевыми волокнами, которые нужны для правильной работы желудочно-кишечного тракта. Vegetable puree тоже, как правило, гомогенизированные. Начинать, как обычно, нужно с 1-2-компонентных (“первая ступень”), более легких для переваривания: кабачков, цветной капусты. До полугода не рекомендуется знакомить малыша с бобовыми. Нередко среди компонентов овощных пюре встречается морковь. Следует с осторожностью давать такие блюда детям с аллергической настроенностью. Vegetable puree могут содержать те же загустители, что и fruit puree, витамин С и иногда сахар. Некоторые производители для улучшения вкусовых качеств овощных пюре добавляют фрукты. Часто пюре содержат растительное масло и сливки, иногда - немного поваренной соли (обычной или йодированной). Кроме овощей, в состав пюре часто входят мясо или рыба, зелень и некоторые приправы, а нередко они являются сочетанием овощей, мяса или рыбы и злаковых, то есть гарнира. С одной стороны, подобные блюда представляют собой готовый обед для малыша. С другой - дотошным родителям будет трудно узнать, сколько именно мяса сможет получить их чадо из таких смесей.
